Bio
Character: Edward Elric, Ed Series: Full Metal Alchemist Anime/manga Age: 15 years Gender: male Sexuality: hetero Appearance: Short male with mid-back legnth blonde hair, fair skin and brown eyes. His hair is in a braid, but his face is framed with bangs and wisps. He usually wears boots, a black tunic and pants with a red cloak. He dons white gloves and carries a military issue pocket watch. On the cloak are sigils of Alchemy. Ed also has Auto-mail (metal prothetics): his entire right arm and left leg (mid-thigh down to his foot). Personality: Arrogant and sure of himself. Alchemy is the answer to everything, in Ed's eyes. He becomes lost and without hope when that belief is shaken. He has an undying devotion to his brother Al. He deeply regrets what has happened to his brother and has vowed to set things right, regardless of whether or not he can regain his true form. Ed has a height complex, but he also feels very deeply for those whom he considers friends. Abilities/Weaponry: Right arm and Left leg are Auto-mail. They are stronger than human stregnth and can withstand large amounts of melee action. He is a military Alchemist and can alter energy for his own means. What makes him a prodigity is that he can perform alchemy without the use of sigils or circles. He has a fair amount of martial arts abliity, but he's never been able to defeat his 'little brother,' Alphonse. Weaknesses: He has a height complex. His compassion can be considered a weakness as his assuredness that "Alchemy is the answer to everything" He's highly sensitive and quick to anger (usually about his height.) When his unflaggering belief that Alchemy is incorruptable is proven wrong, he falls into a deep depression and seriously questions the potential of success. He also has difficultly expressing empathy for others and observing the comparisons of others to his own situation. History: His father left the family when he and his brother were very young. He and Al read all of their father's books and began practising Alchemy. One day, their mother died, an in his grief, he and his brother attempt to use Alchemy to bring back their mother. But it didn't work. Ed's younger brother, Al, lost his body in the failed procedure, and in a fit of desperation, Ed bound his little brother's soul into a suit of armor. To follow the law of equivical exchange, he lost an arm and a leg. A childhood friend and resident monkey wrench, Winry Rockbell, maintains his automail. She also harbors a secret affection/crush on Ed, to which he has yet to realize. Now, in the ultimate journey, the pair travel all over to find the secrets that will allow them to have their complete bodies back. Ed became a military Alchemist, the Full Metal Alchemist, in order to gain access to files about human Alchemy. He achieved this title at the tender age of 12 and has become well known in name, if not in appearance. The brothers search for the Philosopher's Stone, an artifact that amplifies an Alchemist's power and practially eliminates the need to observe the law of 'equivalent exchange.' With this stone, Ed and Al believe that they can get their bodies fleshed and whole without sacrificing more. The search for this legendary artifact leads the brothers into cities on what appears to be a scavenger hunt. With every town they encounter, the boys discover that the Military, especially State Alchemists, are not welcome. They do manage to help the people in exchange for information about the P.S., with pieces of the puzzle leading them back to the main story. Their bleakest hour in the search for the Stone occurs when Ed realizes that the Philosopher's Stone cannot be created without the sacrifice of human lives. There also seems to be a rouge Alchemist tailing them on a God's mission, to destroy the sinner Alchemists who believe that they can simply alter God's perfect creations. And there are the impossible Humunculi, people who are not really humans, and proof that human alchemy exists and is possible. |
